The Atlanta Chevre Minyan and The Goodman Institute have partnered to create a new Jewish learning experience in Atlanta. Marked by participatory, active learning, all are invited to these monthly sessions which feature instruction and study by diverse group of educators and religious leaders from all denominational backgrounds.

Rabbi Adam Starr

Rabbi Elana Erdstein Perry comes to Temple Sinai from Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles, where she was ordained in May 2007. While in rabbinic school, she served as student rabbi for B'nai Big Bear in Big Bear, California, as a rabbinic intern at Temple Judea in Tarzana, California and at Temple Sholom in Vancouver, BC, and as a religious school teacher at the Stephen S. Wise Temple in Los Angeles.

A recipient of a Wexner Graduate Fellowship, Rabbi Perry was also awarded the HUC-JIR Raphael Memorial Prize for Outstanding Service to a Small Congregation. She was also named as a fellow of the Kavod Tzedakah Collective. During the last three summers, she has worked as Assistant Camp Director for Nosaya Day Camp for the Stephen S. Wise Temple, as a rabbinic intern at the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs in Chicago and as a chaplain at Childrens' Hospital in Los Angeles.

Following college graduation from Duke University with a B.A. in Religion, Rabbi Perry was selected as an Eisendrath Legislative Assistant at the URJ Religious Action Center in Washington, D.C. There, reflecting her special interest in social justice issues, she monitored Federal legislation, represented the Reform Jewish movement on Capitol Hill and in coalitions and planned educational programs for high school students who participated in social justice advocacy conferences. Together with former colleagues at the RAC, she is a founder of the One Percent Foundation, aimed at enhancing philanthropic participation among young professionals.

Rabbi Perry is happily married to her college sweetheart, Craig Perry. They are both thrilled to be a part of the Temple Sinai community.

Rabbi Adam Starr grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, and studied at Yeshivat Shalavim in Israel for two years following high school. He received his BA from Yeshiva  College and has smicha from RIETS, at Yeshiva University. He is completing a Masters degree in public administration with a specialization in Jewish Communal Service.  From his years of involvement at Camp Moshava where he served as the program director of the Torah Vaavoda Institute for leadership training an as the Assistant Head Counselor, Rabbi Starr was inspired to enter into Jewish communal work.

For the past seven years Rabbi Starr has been at the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale in New York. He began as the assistant rabbi and director of the Jewish Youth Encounter Program. He has served in the position of rabbi of the congregation under the leadership of the senior rabbi, Rabbi Avi Weiss for the past four years. In this position, Rabbi Starr oversaw all of the day-to-day rabbinic functions of the shul, including most of the pastoral work, the adult education program, the youth program, and Shabbat and Holiday programming.

The Hebrew Institute of Riverdale is a well known and highly respected Modern Orthodox synagogue with a membership of over 800 families. In addition Rabbi Starr was an instructor in Jewish Ethics at the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School in Westchester, New York. Rabbi Starr is married to Talya Gorsetman. They have been blessed with two wonderful daughters, Maayan and Yakira, and one a wonderful son Adin.
